Formed in 2021, the **Data Operations Department** supports the ongoing evolution of our Data Strategy. It brings together 3 main functions; **Data Assurance, Data Transformation Hub and Management Information Hub**.

The **Data Assurance hub** includes; Data Governance, Data Management, Data Minimisation, Data Confidentiality Assurance, Data Quality Management, Retention & Deletion and Information & Data Risk.

The** Data Assurance Engagement team** is responsible for supporting our business stakeholders and Data Owners in managing the risks and issues around enterprise data. Working with Data Champions from around the business and alongside the Data Assurance Operational Team, the team will focus on setting the policies, standards, and governance and control frameworks that bring transparency and trust to our data. Critically, the Data Assurance Engagement team will bring the importance of effective data assurance and governance to life for all colleagues through close support, storytelling and by adopting a practical, pragmatic approach in line with business needs.

The **Data Assurance Specialist** supports the Data Assurance Business Partner and Data Assurance Operational team through stakeholder management, in order to provide the business with their data assurance needs. As a key member of the broader Data Assurance team, you will create an environment of collaboration, agility, innovation and ownership in support of the Data Ops team and overall business ambitions.

**Location**

We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). Our whole business is still working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future. Once it’s safe to return to the office, you can agree your on-site days at the office with your Line Manager. Ideally we would like to see you at least once or twice a week at our Cardiff office but we do offer some flexibility depending on your location.

**Main Duties**
- Support the Data Assurance Business Partner in implementing the Data Assurance Strategy that supports and enables the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes
- Support the Data Steward in defining and evolving the Data Assurance Framework (Data Quality, Metadata, Master Data, Data Models, Ethics)
- Embed a culture and methods of data assurance by design into processes, working practices and behaviours, bringing transparency and auditability to all data processes
- Through effective engagement and partnering with colleagues across the business, embed a culture of safe, responsible and ethical use of data, whilst maintaining appropriate freedom to innovate and experiment
- Develop, maintain and monitor a road map of data assurance enhancements, developing maturity levels in line with business appetite
- Participate in the Data Assurance Forum and working groups in the Data Assurance Framework, ensuring topics of strategic and operational importance are identified and addressed
- Help implement Data Assurance technology requirements and in conjunction with Data Architecture and Data Assurance Operational team, in line with the roadmap and implementation patterns
- Provide support to senior business stakeholders, and support colleagues across Data Assurance and the wider business who engage in data assurance activities

**Behavioural Competencies & Experience**
- Have experience of implementing data assurance & governance strategies and road maps, with a background of having driven adoption into business processes
- Understanding of all aspects of data assurance and governance, including data quality management, metadata management and tools, data architecture and technology
- Experience in implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data management and governance frameworks
- Experience of delivering tangible business value through data assurance and governance solutions
- Good business acumen, with a good understanding of business concepts, practices, and business domain language to engage in problem solving sessions and discuss business issues in stakeholder language
- Experience of promoting cultural change in the way data is used and governed in businesses
