_Optimum Skills are a leading training provider delivering Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Pre-employment and Commercial Training._

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to add to our operations team with a driven and motivated individual to undertake the role of Functional Skills Tutor. The role will be based within our Academies in Newcastle and Gateshead in the 1stinstance with the possibility of supporting throughout the North East as business demands.

**Responsibilities**:

- Use appropriate initial assessment and diagnostic tools with learners to ascertain their starting point on the course.
- Prepare and adapt teaching materials in a contextualised way to enable all learners to progress.
- Create and adapt learning material to meet the needs of the learner.
- Create schemes of work where necessary.
- To carry out regular progress reviews with learners to track progress towards timely completions.
- To provide on-going information, advice and guidance with learners in order for them to reach their aspirations.
- To deliver training on 1:1 or group basis - face to face or online
- Invigilate exams when needed.
- Keep up to date with functional skills changes and own professional development.
- To maintain up-to-date and accurate records (e-portfolio and paper based) for each individual learner according to internal procedures.
- Meet internal KPI targets.

**You will need**:
Equivalent qualifications in Maths & English

Experience in tutoring/assessing with relevant qualifications.

Ability to work with a wide variety of learners
