Job Title: Forge Operative

Department: Heavy Forge

**JOB PURPOSE**:The Press Crew will work under the direction of the Press Manager and be responsible for producing all types of forgings to the specifications and drawings issued by management, by operating associated equipment.

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Basic Function**
- operations utilizing press furnaces and forging equipment.
- May be asked to supervise crews consisting of employees.
- Perform regular, in process inspection of forging at interim levels of manufacturing.
- Maintain production records.
- Any other tasks as directed by Management.

**Must have Requirements.**

Overhead crane license

**Basic Requirements**
- Ability to read and interpret, in English, process sheets, shop orders and instructions.
- Ability to accurately visually align and measure forgings.
- Basic computer skills.
- Required to sweep and clean the work area and maintain an acceptable level of general housekeeping ensuring that equipment and working area is maintained in a safe, clean, and tidy condition always.
- Ability to access, operate and ensure safe working practice for overhead cranes to the appropriate standards.
- Charging operations to and from the furnaces of all forging operations eg
- tooling marking, veering, cutting, etc and other associated operations carried out at the Press.
- Duties will also include preventative maintenance work, including lubricating manipulators, bogies, cranes etc on a regular basis, and a general responsibility for material movement.
- Ensure that the accurate completion of all records, work returns and any other documentation as required by management for all work carried out during each shift.
- To ensure that all furnaces are reviewed and signed for and where relevant any faults are reported to the appropriate person and acted upon within a reasonable timescale.
- All operatives will be required to operate a flexible and mobility of labour system as required. All employees may be required from time to time to work outside their normal range of activities or hours and/or in another department.
- Help to cover short staff on heat treatment when required.
- All operatives are required to work to the highest standard and be willing to work towards their own personal development with support from other staff and management as well as encouraging the development of other team members.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £12.48 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
