The London Cremation Company plc is Great Britain’s oldest cremation authority and its principal activities are carrying out cremations and providing memorials at its crematoria.

We have an exciting new opening for a passionate **Chapel Attendant **to join us.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide a friendly, compassionate and efficient front-line service for the Crematorium. Be the first point of contact for visitors to the Crematorium.
- Assist all clients which includes the general public, Funeral Directors, Medical Referees, Celebrants and Ministers efficiently and professionally with any queries or complaints, on the phone, in writing and face to face.
- Fully prepare the chapel for each service including removing and replacing orders of service; checking microphones and the music system; dust and polish; put out and keep tidy the hymn books and cushions; pick litter; remove and replace religious symbols.
- Escort mourners in and out of the chapel, dealing with enquiries as necessary and assisting during the service if requested
- Ensure areas of the Crematorium are cleaned and maintained daily and there are no potential hazards that could cause injury.
- Assist the general public at witness dispersals which involves reading aloud to an audience.
- Carry out non-witness dispersals of cremated remains.
- Control the smooth and efficient operation of the car park, directing funeral corteges, members of the public and other visitors to the Crematorium as necessary, avoiding congestion and other problems.

In addition the role may on occasions include: Produce all necessary documentation (internal and external) to ensure all cremations and burials can take place within the time frame set. Manage the daily cremations diary, accurately recording details of instructions. When required, assist with the sale of memorials and support with documentation for the purpose of new business or renewals.

**Skills & Experience Required**:

- Excellent customer services and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to deal with bereaved and potentially distressed persons in a sensitive and compassionate manner
- Able to work in a pressured and busy environment in a calm and efficient manner
- Previous administration and client facing experience
- Good attention to detail
- Demonstrate flexibility and remain positive and proactive at all times.
- Work well with a team, helping and supporting each other.
- Anticipate and respond to the needs of the Company and its customers, looking for and using opportunities to exceed customer expectations and ensuring consistent quality in all their dealings with employees and customers.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 8 per week
