My client is a divisional business of a leading PLC within the Manufacturing, Sales and Distribution of Building Products.
As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Finance Manager to join the business.
This position will be located from the companies’ plush offices in Tamworth and therefore easily accessible from both East and West Midlands utilise A5 / M1 / M6 and M42 and especially even more manageable with this company offering the ability to work fromhome part of the week.
Role Overview
You will be primarily responsible to for management of the divisional Finance function.
Overseeing approx. 15 of the groups 80+ distribution units, you will maintain financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting control in addition to day to day management of the payables and receivables functions through 6 direct reports.
Reporting to the Financial Controller and acting as the primary finance contact for your area, you will be expected to support the regional and divisional management teams to ensure policy, procedures and processes are adhered to while contributing to the developmentand implementation of the same.
As a senior member of the finance team you will drive change and improvement, using your knowledge and experience to propose and drive delivery of best practice across the organisation.
Key Duties
- To ensure all Group reporting timetables are met, and accounting procedures are maintained.
- To assist in the development of divisional reporting and analysis.
- Supervise the purchase ledger and ensure all payments are made in line with terms, with a view to maintaining optimal cash flow and removing risks to supply.
- Supervise the sales ledger and credit control process, providing authorisation as appropriate for credit limit decisions and acting to escalate actions as required.
- Coaching and development of team members.
- To work effectively with other Group functions (HR, Property, Fleet management, Group Finance) to ensure adequate records are maintained in line with group standards.
- To develop and maintain a high level of working knowledge of relevant IT systems, offering advice and reports to other general and finance management within the division.
- Preparation of accounting entries, including accruals prepayments and maintenance of inter and intra-company transactions and balances.
- Preparation of VAT returns, and responsibility for all corporation tax packs required at year end for Group reporting.
- To cover other ad hoc duties in the Distribution Finance team, including a willingness to travel.
- Liaison with auditors as required to assist with annual group reporting.
- Will be a part of the long term implementation team for the adoption of single IT solution for the division.
Experience gained within Sales & Distribution, Manufacturing, Logistics is desirable but not essential
The ability to be involved in key improvement projects including ERP Migration alongside BAU Finance duties is also highly desirable.
Other key skills
- Self-motivated and driven, with a good understanding of business finance requirements.
- Ability to develop and adapt finance procedures as the division moves through change.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet month end timetables and competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail, and an eye for opportunity in challenging costs.
- Qualified accountant desired, although part qualified / QBE considered with significant relevant skills/experience.
- Strong MS Excel skills.
- Experience of Microsoft Dynamics / Navision or similar ERP packages a distinct advantage.
This position can be offered on a Temporary, FTC or Permanent basis with a competitive salary or Day Rate Equivalent plus bonus and excellent benefits.
