- Want to be part of something bigger? As a Tools Operative at FCDO Services, you will be. Test, maintain and pack tools for essential overseas work. Provide critical support for the wider Engineering and Operations team. Be the first step in a global operation. And do a job that just means more.-
**Job description**:
- Prepare essential tools for projects of national importance
- So, what does a Tools Operative do? In short, you’ll be relied on by our Engineers to supply them with the tools they need to complete jobs for our government-level customers. These jobs might include installing CCTV in a secure communications site overseas. Or repairing alarm systems for a centuries-old embassy. Whatever the project, nothing gets done without safe, working and appropriate toolkits. That’s where you come in.
- Each day, you’ll be given a list of tools to collect and pack. You’ll complete checks on electric and manual kits to make sure everything’s in good working order. And if it isn’t, you’ll replace any parts which are broken or missing. Our Engineers travel to some very remote locations, so it’s vital that you provide them with everything they need before they head off. If something unexpected comes up while they’re overseas, you might need to react quickly to get extra tools ready to go. It’s an essential job, and central to keeping our overseas operations running smoothly.
- Be an integral part of a team with global impact
- Working out of our warehouse in Milton Keynes, you’ll be part of a small but critical team of Operatives responsible for keeping our warehouse of tools and equipment in tip-top order. When you’re not preparing kit for overseas jobs, you’ll support the wider team with essential background work. Like stock checks, customer queries and ordering new equipment. You’ll work collaboratively with others to ensure the warehouse stays organised, tidy and safe. And you’ll always find ways to work efficiently and at a fast pace to meet the needs of the Operations team.
- In everything you do, you’ll be great to work with and a natural at building relationships. You’ll be responsive and reliable, and motivated to learn new skills. You’ll need to have experience in a similar role already, with knowledge of, and interest in, tooling. Plus, you’ll need to understand the importance of warehouse health and safety, as the role involves high-risk manual handling and use of power tools like saws, grinders and nail guns. We also ask that you’re able to use Microsoft Office, as there’s some admin and record-keeping involved in the role, too. If you have experience of PAT testing, PPE inspection or are trained in forklift truck driving, then that will come in really handy. But if you don’t, then we can get you up to speed.
- Begin a career on an unbelievable scale-
- It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world
