We’re looking to hire a Senior/Principal Hydrogeologist who can lead, manage, and nurture a top-tier Flood Risk team within our consultancy. **What the Role Entails.** As the lead Hydrogeologist at Sub Surface, you'll be responsible for all things flood risk and drainage related from inception through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

- **1. Client Engagement**:_ Building long-lasting client relationships by providing expert advice, addressing their concerns, and ensuring their needs are met.
- **2. Fee Proposals**:_ Showcase your commercial ability with detailed fee proposals that not only reflect your expertise but also resonate with clients.
- **3. Flood Risk Assessments**:_Conducting comprehensive flood risk assessments to assess the risk and potential impact of flooding, and provide mitigation measures to ensure a safe development.
- **4. Sequential and Exception Tests**:_ demonstrating that there are no alternative lower risk sites available and how flood risk will be managed on site.
- **5. Outline SuDS Concept Designs and Detailed SuDS Designs**:_ provide innovative drainage solutions to support and discharge planning requirements while embracing sustainability and functionality.
- **6. Hydrological and Hydraulic Modelling**:_ Utilise advanced software tools to model river flows, rainfall patterns, and stormwater management systems to analyse potential flood scenarios.
- **7. Regulatory Compliance**:_ Ensure that flood risk and drainage projects adhere to local and national regulatory standards, including flood risk regulations and environmental policies.
- **8. Quality Assurance**:_ Ensure the accuracy and quality of project deliverables, adhering to industry best practices and standards.
- **9. Continuous Learning**:_ Stay updated with the latest developments in flood risk engineering and flood modelling techniques
- **10. Marketing and Business Development**:_ Drive our consultancy's growth by developing and executing marketing strategies, and fostering new business opportunities to expand our reach and impact.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Relevant hydrological, civil and/or environmental engineering background (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng) or equivalent
- Have Chartered status or be close to Chartered status. CIWEM or an equivalent accreditation/institution.
- A minimum of six years’ experience as a Flood Risk / Drainage Consultant
- Extensive knowledge and experience on all flood risk and drainage aspects.
- Charismatic personality to build strong, lasting Client relationships.
- Full UK Drivers License

**Employment Conditions and Benefits**:

- Full time contract - Office based (Preston)
- Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 5pm - 37.5 hrs per week
- 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
- Competitive salary: £38,000 to £55,000 depending on experience
