**Job description**

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join our team.

**The Housekeeper will be responsible for**:

- Cleaning bedrooms, corridors, public rooms and making beds in accordance with the bed list.
- Collecting, counting and sorting dirty linen into cages in preparation for collection.
- Washing of in house laundry (i.e. cleaning cloths).
- Collecting and reporting any lost property to the office on the day of discovering items.
- Cleaning all public areas, including kitchens and lounges.
- Cleaning internal windows where easy access is available.
- Assembling cots and supplying extra facilities to the pilgrims when required.
- Checking all lights & lamps are working correctly and reporting any faulty equipment to the office.
- Empty rubbish bins and adhere to the Shrine recycling campaign.
- Carry out work in accordance with the department’s procedures and work instructions.
- Communicating effectively between colleagues and other departments.
- Communicating in a helpful and obliging way to advise & direct pilgrims when necessary.
- Understanding and responding to accident and emergency situations.
- Attending team meetings to improve communication and best practice.
- Working with the Head of Housekeeping in supporting them as Head of Department and continuing to raise the standard of hospitality in all areas.
- Undertaking repair work and sewing, if required.
- Maintaining & refilling tea points and toiletries.
- Reporting stock levels of cleaning materials and toiletries to the Head of Housekeeping during weekly meetings.
- Keep all store cupboards clean and tidy ensuring cleaning fluids are stored in accordance with health & safety requirements.
- Distribute extra items such as extra pillows, blankets when required.
- Check and maintain air fresheners.
- Reporting repairs, faults and hazards when necessary.

**PERSON SPECIFIC KEY SKILLS**
- A willingness to work within a Christian environment and to develop an understanding of the reasons people come on pilgrimage.
- Be physically fit to carry out cleaning and bed making activities.
- Able to work within a team environment.
- Good listening skills for dealing with people.
- Have a flexible attitude towards work and an ability to adapt & react to change.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: £12.00 per hour
