**Risk & Control Assurance Subject Matter Expert (SME)**

As a Barclays Risk & Control Assurance SME, this is an exciting opportunity where you will be responsible for the management of Risk and Control across multiple sites globally covering multiple processes across TC01. The processes undertaken in these operations are heavily regulated meaning that Risk and Control management is of the utmost importance.

This opportunity is location flexible. We will consider requests for locating the role at an alternative Barclays’ key UK office from that advertised.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

**What will you be doing?**:

- Supporting the implementation and management of the internal control framework
- Proving the effectiveness and robustness of the control environment and control culture
- Managing & performing the testing schedule to ensure adherence to the Barclays Control Framework
- Being responsible for the identification of new and emerging risks and design of a suitable yet commercial control environment to provide protection
- Being responsible for the identification of control issues and themes
- Acting as a point of contact for the business aligned teams

**What we’re looking for**:

- Broad knowledge of Operational Risk & Controls and/or audit and a practical knowledge of internal controls
- Excellent understanding of Financial Crime regulations and policies (AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption), or similar regulations
- Proven experience in a Risk & Control/assurance function, preferably with a focus on Financial Crime
- Effective and articulate in communicating risk and control issues with internal stakeholders

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Broad understanding of Financial Services/AML and Sanctions policies/Regulatory requirement
- Excellent stakeholder management experience and the ability to influence others positively
- Proven experience of working at one with other colleagues, to achieve and often beat their objectives and assist others in doing so
- Excellent presentation skills to enable them to communicate to large groups
