**Salary: Band**:10, £41,510 - £45,718 pa, (£26,925 - £29,654 for 24 hours)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, experienced, and motivated registered health care professional, to join the Adult Social Care service within Portsmouth City Council. The post is new and whist having specific duties, the post holder will have the opportunity to develop the role supporting best practice in the moving and handling of people across the city.

**What is the role**

The role is based in Adult Social Care, within the Occupational Therapy service, however you will work across the directorate to develop and enhance Moving and Handling practice, procedures, and policies. Remaining up to date in all aspects of clinical intervention in relation to moving and handling, you will ensure relevant colleagues are legally compliant in their moving and handling practice.
You will be a moving and handling expert, managing, developing and delivering a range of professional and client focused moving and handling training programmes to occupational therapy staff, Portsmouth City Council (PCC) and independent sector care staff and informal carers.
You will provide expert professional support on moving and handling casework for occupational therapy colleagues, within a best practice framework.
You will provide practical demonstrations and use of equipment, techniques and processes in training sessions and assist establishments in making considered decisions on the purchase of essential moving and handling equipment.

**What you need to succeed**:
Key Skills

You must be a self-starter, able to identify and develop, what is required to meet the training needs of the different sectors and effectively evaluate training delivery and outcomes. You will be a recognised expert in the field, and you will actively undertake professional development to ensure that your skills remain at the highest level. You will be flexible and responsive to changing needs and requirements, able to organise and manage your own workload effectively.

Qualifications and/or experience

You will need to be a registered health care professional who has significant experience of moving and handling people, as well as demonstrable skills and experience in delivering moving and handling training. A recognised qualification in moving and handling training or membership of the national back exchange is desirable but not essential.
