Health Education England is recruiting for an Head of School for General Practice in the East of England.

The Primary Care School will have two Head of Schools who work collaboratively but have distinct remits. This Head of School will lead on Learner Support.

The Head of School will be expected to meet the challenges of leading the School and Education Providers to deliver the changing curriculum in
an evolving service landscape.

Although the main role is to lead and develop the Postgraduate School of General Practice all senior clinicians within HEE may have wider roles
and projects as agreed with the Postgraduate Dean/Primary Care Dean.

In particular, Heads of School are expected to develop multiprofessional
education, innovative ways of curriculum delivery and engage with workforce well-being strategies.

To support the Postgraduate Dean/Primary Care Dean, the Head of School will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.

The Head of School is professionally and managerially accountable to the Primary Care Dean and will be responsible for line managing and supporting a number of Associate Deans within the East of England.

The Head of School will focus on improvement of learner supervision, support, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.

The Head of School will contribute to the vision of the local NHS and to enhance patient care by providing leadership and direction with respect to the quality of education and training.

The purpose of the Primary Care School is to create, facilitate and support the best possible educational experience for all learners within primary care in the East of England. Our goal is to sustain a quality primary care workforce for our region.

**We are responsible for**:

- Providing strategic oversight, leadership, innovation and improvement of all activities related to the education and training of the workforce.
- Providing educational governance with respect to the quality of clinical learning placements
- Assuring the quality of supervision of learners provided by multi-professional supervisors and the quality assurance of their training.
- Ensuring all learners across primary and community care achieve the levels of excellence required
- Providing oversight of the management of nationally coordinated HEE programmes and joint HEE and NHSE/I programmes and other collaborations.
- Ensuring robust financial management of HEE programmes / work streams
