**Medical Secretary**

Bridge View Medical is a friendly General Practice with 4 sites in South Bristol servicing c39,000 patients cared for by a team of 150 dedicated Partners and staff.

We are a teaching, training and research practice and are a proud recipient of South Bristol Academy Teaching Practice Award 2021-22 for our outstanding contribution to medical teaching.

We are looking for a pro-active and focused **Medical Secretary **to join our existing team to support the smooth running of our operation.

**Hours of work**:
**Job summary**

To work flexibly to provide efficient, high quality secretarial, administrative and support services to GPs and health professionals as required and to maintain office cover. This will involve word processing, audio typing skills with general clerical work.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes typing letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
- Process and maintain referrals using the E Referral System. Maintain all workstreams within the E Referral system.
- Process dictation using the Lexacom system.
- Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
- Process private work requests.
- Retrieve medical records and process requests for the completion of medical/insurance records/photocopying and Subject Access Requests requests/checking of notes.
- Raise invoices and receive payments for private work.
- Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
- Ability to retrieve test results, clinic letters, discharge summaries from appropriate computer systems, or liaise with secondary care staff.

**Person Specification**

**Essential**:

- Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Excellent organisational and communication (verbal & written) skills
- Problem solving & task management skills

**Desirable**:

- Previous secretarial experience (1+ year)
- Use of clinical systems software eg. EMIS,
- GP Practice experience

Pay: £23,850.00-£26,613.00 per year
