**About the role**
The Tax and Treasury Assistant provides key support to members of this specialist team in Group Finance. The role is a pathway to becoming a qualified tax or treasury professional and, in addition to work on core tax compliance and treasury activities, the Tax and Treasury Assistant will have exposure to various projects across different technical areas.
This role will include several core, recurring activities from both a tax and treasury perspective, such as preparing periodic VAT returns and daily/weekly cash flow forecasting and analysis. Around this structure of regular, core tasks, the role will focus on assisting either the Group Tax Manager or Group Treasury Manager with certain projects.
**What you’ll do**
**Treasury**:
- Reporting actual cash flow performance and performing variance analysis
- Supporting the cash flow forecasting process
- Updating bank mandates and administering bank account parameters and systems
- Liaising with transactional teams regarding payment solutions
- Assisting with hedging contracts (e.g., FX, swaps)
- Monitoring bank/lender covenants and supporting related lender/agent obligations
- Managing intragroup financing
**Tax**:
- Supporting UK corporation tax and VAT return preparation
- Handling routine tax queries relating to payroll and employment matters
- Annual preparation of UK employment/payroll forms, e.g., P11Ds and PSAs
- Assisting with USA federal and state tax compliance (and possibly other overseas territories)
- Liaising with external tax advisors regarding transfer pricing documentation and calculations
**About you**
- Bachelor’s Degree or A-level (or overseas equivalent) educational background
- Minimum of 1 year in a professional services/accountancy environment or a similar in-house role (PQ CCAB qualified desirable, e.g., ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA)
- Strong MS Excel skills (financial or treasury modelling desirable)
- Must be self-motivated, professional, detail oriented, and comfortable working to regular deadlines (e.g., cash reporting cycle)
- Initiative, willingness to learn quickly
- Advanced PC and/or Mac experience with all MS Office Suite
