Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

**Lead Project Management & Control Professional
- Project Controls**

Would you like a new and exciting role in our Submarines team? We currently have a vacancy for a Lead PM&C Professional - Project Controls in our site in Barrow.

This is a new and exciting position on our Dreadnought programme and you will have the opportunity to shape this role whilst also developing yourself. You will be part of a team that is responsible for project management governance and assurance on the Dreadnought programme, ensuring that the programme follows project management processes and procedures at a corporate, business and programme level. This role will be within the assurance workstream of the team.

You will develop a deep knowledge of the Dreadnought programme and will also work with a wide range of stakeholders so the opportunity to develop knowledge and relationships gives this role holder fantastic career development opportunities within the programme or wider business.

**Your main responsibilities as a Lead Project Management & Control Professional - Project Controls will involve**:

- Manage the DN cost forecasting and budgetary process for key Delivery Director areas ensuring quarterly Estimate At Completion submissions are on time and accurate, utilising performance indicators to inform achievably of cost forecasts
- Coordinate monthly gathering of Earned Value data and provide analysis of programme performance to inform the Dreadnought Programme Delivery Directors and Programme Director
- Coordinate key project controls governance activities, for example Work Package management, timesheet mis-bookings and unapproved timesheets to provide assurance across the Dreadnought programme
- Manage the cost envelope for the Delivery Director areas including risk, uncertainty, opportunity and challenge and facilitate the activities required to amend the base budget
- Monitor all change across the Delivery Director areas and coordinate the formal change process required to amend the performance measurement baseline.
- Manage the growth and development of immediate team members and ensure that the following is undertaken: Monthly Performance Reviews (MPRs), weekly 1:1 meetings, annual SQEP assessment to inform a training needs analysis for each team member, ensure each team member has a Personal Development Plan
- Communicate project controls best practice and highlight appropriate training modules where applicable to Control Account manager support personnel in Delivery Director areas who sit outside the immediate team

**Your skills and qualifications**:
Essential
- Project Management professional with a good understanding of the Project Management disciplines
- Experience and understanding of managing projects
- APM qualification is essential or equivalent (Prince2 or MSP)

Desirable
- Defence Sector experience
- Experience of working on large complex programme
- Experience of leading a team and managing team members' performance
