**Grade: Leadership L1 - 5** **Contract Type: Permanent** **Hours: Full time** **Working Pattern: Full year** **Actual Salary: £47,417 - £52,330** **Interview Date: Monday 10**th** January 2025** **Job Title**:Lead Practitioner of Science **Reports to**:Head of Science **Remuneration**:Lead Practitioner Pay Scale LP1LP5 (£47,417 to £52,330) **Contract**:Permanent, Full Time (37 hrs per week, term-time only) **Start Date**:As soon as possible or Easter 2025 **About the Role**: **Key Focus**: - Support the Subject Leader in maximising students’ academic development by taking responsibility for interventions. - Drive high standards of teaching and learning across the department through leadership, strategic planning, and data analysis. **Primary Purpose**: - Help students realise their academic potential through an unrelenting focus on quality teaching and student support. - Foster a "can-do" culture that motivates and inspires students to aim high and achieve their goals. - Embrace flexibility and contribute to the school’s growth and overall development. **Key Responsibilities**: - ** Accountability to the Headteacher** - Keep the Headteacher informed of all issues concerning the Science Department via the line manager. - ** Leadership and Management of Staff** - Assist in identifying and addressing CPD needs within the department. - Support with interpreting data and planning strategic interventions for student progress. - ** Leadership of Learning and Teaching** - Enhance and contribute to the development of formative and summative assessments. - Support the moderation and standardisation of assessments. - Assist in organising interventions and coordinating department trips and visits. - Promote outstanding practice and ensure the department is up to date with national teaching developments. - ** Welfare of Students** - Foster high expectations and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture. - Collaborate with the Pastoral Team to support student well-being and remove barriers to learning. - ** Monitoring, Assessment, and Reporting** - Be accountable for tracking and improving student progress and achievement. - Ensure assessment and feedback align with school policies and support student development. - Provide regular updates on student progress through reports and parent meetings. - ** Operational/Strategic Planning** - Collaborate with the Subject Leader to support curriculum development and the transition from KS2 to KS3. - Plan and participate in school events, including Open Evenings and extracurricular activities. **What We Offer**: - A state-of-the-art building with scenic views and excellent transport links. - A supportive working environment and a tailored professional development programme. - Access to private healthcare, Teachers' Pension Scheme, and an Employee Assistance Programme. - Opportunities for professional growth and career progression. **About You**: **To Apply**: **Closing Date**:3rd January 2025 at 12.00 noon. **Interviews**:10th January 2025. **Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities**: Edgar Wood Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
