THE ROLE

This role supports the Department’s academic

provision, with a focus on admissions,

teaching arrangements, assessment and

student academic and welfare support.

Working closely with the Director, the

Academic Lead and the Registrar, the

postholder contributes insight and in-depth

knowledge for the Department’s international

semester and vacation students enrolled in a

range of programmes.

SALARY & HOURS

**£32,506.76 per annum
Plus a bonus scheme paid in two

instalments. These are only payable after the

satisfactory completion of the probationary

period.

ATTENDANCE BONUS
Monday to Friday

Main

**Responsibilities**:
**Director of Studies**
- Act as Director of Studies for students on the Semester programmes, Pembroke Cambridge

Summer Programme and other programmes with responsibility for student academic work

and progress and general welfare.
- Provide academic advice and assistance to students, related to their assignments,

dissertations and examinations or advising and implementing course change requests.
- With the Academic Lead, arrange supervisions, liaise with students, introduce students to their

supervisors, and act as a point of support to both the student and the supervisor throughout.
- Contribute to the development of the academic course portfolio and student learning and

study experience analysis and evaluations.
- Liaise with the College and University of Cambridge departments and faculties and develop

and maintain strong relationships with key contacts.
- Manage and assist with various academic projects and form part of the core academic team,

promoting the continuous development and quality assurance of learning, teaching and

assessment across the portfolio of programmes in the department.

**Tutor and Welfare Support**
- As part of the Department’s welfare team, act as a Tutor and provide personal contact and

support on all welfare and pastoral care related aspects, including health and wellbeing,

accommodation, and liaise with others as appropriate (eg. supervisors, College departments,

faculties, etc.).
- Contribute to the department’s emergency response framework and on call duty rota and act

as part of the crisis response team, if and when required.
- Attend arrival events, Formal Halls, plenaries, orientation and social events.

**Admission and Teaching Arrangements**
- Contribute to the admission processes in the Department, especially the Semester

Programmes.
- Act as Registrar for the Semester Programmes. This includes exam quality assurance,

submission procedures, late submission penalties and appeals. Manage extension requests

across all programmes.
- Provide additional cover for registrar tasks, including the creation of timetables and managing

clashes, combinations and constraints, seminar group and teaching room allocations.
- Support the management of programmes and contribute to the development of new and

existing programmes, as required.
