**Summary and Main Purpose**:
Reporting to the Chief Quality Inspector, as a Quality Inspector you are responsible for ensuring high quality and efficiency in daily work operations, while maintaining safety standards and requirements. Quality inspectors are responsible for examining and testing products and materials for signs of damage or defects that could reduce their overall quality and functionality. Inspect precision parts to ensure conformity to routing, drawing & customer specifications achieving quality products/services in line with customer and the organisations expectations.
**Main Tasks**:
- Undertake inspections according to Company and customer inspection and control plans
- Accurately maintain and update quality inspector records
- Identify, set aside and document all suspect or defective products
- Operate precise instruments for measuring; maintain and repair instruments as necessary
- Communicate visual and dimensional product quality standards effectively
- Maintain and update quality inspector records
- Follow legal regulations for a safe and healthy work environment
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Performs inspections at all levels of production and manufacturing, company-wide from supplier, initial stage, roving & final inspection.
- Inspects finished products for quality to ensure they meet customer and company specifications and safety standards.
- Is familiar with product specifications to ensure that every product and the process of creating them meets company standards.
- Uses precision equipment like callipers, vernier, micrometers, shadow graph and others to make accurate measurements
- Uses appropriate techniques to detect for deviations from routing, drawings & specifications
- Maintains accurate paperwork and completes accurate reports - i.e. dimensional, FAIR’s i.a.w. routing & customer requirements
- Accurately records and reports deviations in accordance with company processes and procedures
- Assists with calibration, gauge control and MSA studies
- Carries out functional test assemblies in accordance with customer specifications
- Oversees workshop testing process i.a.w. in-house and customer specifications
- Ensures workshop completed testing reports are included & checked for accuracy
- Liaises with other members of the section to achieve the monthly sales target
- Ensures good housekeeping - completed product booked to stock & routings closed
- Ensures packaged parts and labelling are checked in at timely manner to achieve delivery schedule
- Final release product in line with customer purchase order & specifications
- Adhere to companies health & safety processes within the section through the control of hazards that create a risk of loss to employees, property, products & company reputation
- Monitor the adequacy of despatch packaging/preservation for sub-contract processes
- Effectively communicate ideas about how to correct errors and increase efficiency and to prevent similar defects in the future
- Sharing technical knowledge about the product with relevant staff
- Assessing whether the finished product reflects goals set out by the original project plan
**Skills & Experience**:
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use manual and CNC turning lathes.
- Knowledge of industrial machining techniques.
- Ability to use measuring equipment for quality control checks
- Knowledge of mechanical maintenance practices and procedures for machine tools
- Strong manual skills
- Reliability, precision and attention to detail
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and to follow instructions
- Flexible approach to work hours and willingness to work shifts
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Have a ‘can do’ attitude and be able to work on their own initiative, showing a methodical approach to work and good problem-solving skills.
- Ensure that the relevant control systems are adhered to and that both Quality and Health and Safety standards are maintained.
- To be customer and product focused at all times.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
