What it's like to work here The role is part of the Countryside team in the Somerset Coast & Countryside portfolio working alongside a wider property team including Visitor Experience, Facilities Management, Enterprise (retail and catering) and Project Management roles supported bya property-based consultancy including Rural Surveying and Building disciplines. You will be part of a small team covering the NT land across Mid and North Somerset based out of the Barton Office at the eastern end of the Mendip ridge. The role will also beresponsible for some project delivery and contributing to the delivery of our ambitious plans to improve NT land for nature.

What you'll be doing **Poldens, Coast & Levels**

Stretching to 262ha this area hosts sites with a huge diversity rich in natural, cultural and historic heritage. Key sites include the two coastal headlands at Brean Down and Sand Point, important for their extensive limestone grassland, significant archaeologyand prominence in the Severn Estuary. Extensive woodland and calcareous grassland on the Polden Ridge including Collard Hill important for a range of invertebrates most notably the Large Blue Butterfly and the iconic, internationally renowned Glastonbury Torsteeped in history and legend and a mecca for visitors from all walks of life.

**Mendip Hills**

Covering 5 National Trust sites over 677ha within the Mendip Hills AONB. This area encompasses some fantastically rich places for wildlife including extensive areas of species rich limestone grassland, extensive areas of woodland and is home to special speciesincluding Cheddar Pink, Greater and Lesser Horseshoe bats and Dormice alongside a rich history spanning from the Mesolithic to modern day. Key sites include the karst landscape of Cheddar Gorge, extensive area of common land at Crook Peak and ancient woodlandat King’s Wood.

These two diverse areas will provide every opportunity to test and grow your experience as a Ranger.

You’ll need to;
- Deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of the property
- Demonstrate a passion for nature, heritage and the outdoors
- Able to engage with visitors to ensure they understand the value of your work
- Help create a great place to work, sharing common goals
- Be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
- Be an excellent team player
- Be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures
- Experience in a land, access and conservation management
- Experience in and working in a similar outdoor setting
- Competence with machinery and equipment as well as having the relevant certificates required
- A full UK driving licence
