The job plan currently includes a Childrens Medical Unit (CMU) hot week (1 in 10) and a NICU hot week (1 in 10). Clinic weeks include up to 3 clinics, there is anticipation for the successful post holder to expand knowledge within the community statutory clinics such as Initial health assessments and Educational health care plans, with full support and training. The post holder will: Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and lead the co-ordination of care for patients within the Trust. Adopt an active role in the planning, development and delivery of the Paediatric and Neonatal Services.

Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care. Ensure there is a robust process for reviewing the quality of services provided and ensure the highest standards are maintained. Act as a clinical supervisor for trainees and participate in the Postgraduate and Undergraduate teaching programmes within the department. Provide a role model of professional leadership, ensuring these are understood and demonstrated by the medical workforce.

The SPA activity will also include consultant educational supervision for a trainee(s) and personal (e.g. audit, clinical governance, clinical supervision, CPD, e-portfolio). This post will entail 8.25 PAs for direct clinical care, including 4 PAs for on call/hot weeks and 1.50 SPAs.
