Are you an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next role in the London borough of Brent, North-West London?

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be placed in a small classroom of 8 pupils within a Year 1/Year 2 group who have a diagnosis of Autism, moderate learning needs and possibly some behavioural challenges. Generally, you will be providing support to students in small groups and working alongside the class teacher to help with student engagement, progress and the management of individual behaviour. The school has a structured, adapted curriculum with Literacy and Maths being taught daily. Their teaching follows a structured TEACCH approach, and all staff are trained to carry out sessions to develop pupil attention, focus and spontaneous language development.

The school's SEND provision specifically provides for pupils with autism. Their aim is to help pupils overcome the obstacles associated with autism so that they can develop their social and communication skills and make academic progress. Pupils have access to Speech and Occupational Therapy sessions, run by qualified therapists, a sensory corner and two playgrounds with equipment to support their motor skills and general development. This school has a fantastic reputation in the local area and has consistently achieved a 'Good' Ofsted.

Located in Brent, the school is accessible via the Overground, the Jubilee Line and is on several popular bus routes.

Essential Requirements:

- Desire to gain experience supporting young people with special educational needs, ideally those with Autism (ASD/ASC)
- Staff will need to be able to think on their feet and work with energetic challenging pupils.
- A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: £9.50-£11.00 per hour
