**YARD WORKER/FORKLIFT DRIVER**

We have a permanent vacancy for Yard Worker/Forklift Driver at Tudor Building Supplies based in Hereford at our Builders' Merchants branch.

**Who are Tudor Building Supplies?**

Tudor Building Supplies has been newly acquired by Robert Price Builders’ Merchants Ltd, which is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern SME, and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.

**What is a builders' merchant?**

A builders’ merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Up to 85% of the built environment you see around you is supplied by Britain’s builders’ merchants. Merchants and the supply chain are crucial to the construction industry which contributes over £40 billion to the UK economy each year. A career in this essential commercial sector can be challenging, varied and rewarding.

**Hours**:
40 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday between our daytime opening hours (7:30am 17:00pm) including working alternative Saturday mornings (8:00am - 12:00pm).

**Pay**:
Negotiable according to experience

**Duties**:

- To check stocks accurately on arrival and report any shortages or breakages
- To ensure that all materials received are booked in correctly
- To put stock away promptly with use of the forklift
- To offer excellent customer service
- General warehouse duties and stock management

**Essential skills**:

- Counterbalance forklift licence
- Good knowledge of building materials and their usage
- Manual handling up to 25kg
- Good paperwork skills
- Confident communicator
- Proven team work skills
- Naturally tidy and organised
- GCSE Maths (minimum grade C or a good understanding of metric and imperial measurements and basic mental arithmetic)
- Good customer service
- Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised once trained
- Reliable, industrious, adaptable and quick to grasp new concepts

**Desirable**:

- An interest in sales and in the construction industry
- Experience in customer service, perhaps gained in retail sales or hospitality

The role offers scope to develop warehousing skills and an understanding of materials, stock control, orders and deliveries.
