The School of Psychology at the University of Nottingham seeks to appoint a full-time Research Fellow to contribute to a Leverhulme Trust funded project titled “Examining the cognitive and emotional processes underlying hyperbole comprehension” led by Dr Ruth Filik at the University of Nottingham and Professor Hartmut Leuthold at the University of Tübingen.

The person appointed will be expected to plan, conduct, and be involved in the dissemination of research using eye-tracking and EEG/fEMG to investigate aspects of figurative language processing during reading.

**About you**:

- Have experience of using eye-tracking and/or psychophysiological methods (e.g., EEG/fEMG/EDA/heart rate monitoring) to study written language comprehension, including stimuli development, experimental set-up, and data collection and analysis.
- Have the ability to analyse and interpret data using appropriate statistical packages (e.g., conducting linear mixed effects models in R).
- Have experience of disseminating research findings (e.g., through journal publications and conferences).
- Have a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline (the PhD thesis must be submitted prior to starting the position).
