**About the hospital and service**

This role will focus upon the development and provision of a whole medical retina service including treatment of wet ARMD, retinal vascular disease, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis etc. You will be involved in the implementation of the community diabetic eye screening service across the Island along with hospital eye service provision.

The Ophthalmology Department is presently providing general services for cataracts, glaucoma and medical retina diseases, with patients requiring tertiary care being transferred to Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Currently, wet ARMD reviews and intra-vitreal injection clinics are held on the Island under the auspices of Aintree University Hospital (as part of Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) which provides remote consultant supervision for the locum Associate Specialist who runs this clinic at Noble’s Hospital on Fridays.

You will be working as one of two consultants with a supportive and friendly team comprising two middle grade doctors and nursing support.

Interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
