Chrysalis Assessment & Support Centre is a Residential Family Assessment Centre which provides support, advice, and teaching to parents. Chrysalis works independently and provides thorough expert evidence-based parenting assessments to placing Local Authorities and the Court.
The role of the Family Support Worker is to work with parents in assisting them to develop their parenting skills and understanding in terms of all aspects of meeting the needs of their child and ensuring that at all times the child is safeguarded.
The aspects of the role that are desirable and essential are detailed below:
Person Specification: Essential Requirements of the post are:
- Hold a Level 3 or above qualification in Children and Young People’s workforce or equivalent. (i.e. Health & Social Care, Working with Children, Young people, and Families, Early Childhood Studies, Diploma in Early Years etc.)
- Has previous experience in working in at least one of the following safeguarding, children and families, children’s health, and development and/or in a Residential Setting.
- Have experience of observing and recording interactions of service users/children and families.
- Have a knowledge of relevant child protection legislation and other guidelines.
- Have a knowledge of children’s development.
- You understand the forms and effects of oppression, discrimination, and disadvantage.
- You have an ability to communicate clearly in writing.
- You have excellent interpersonal communication skills at a range of levels.
- You have good computer literacy skills.
- You have excellent observation and recording skills.
- You are able to support and promote independence.
- Will have a clear DBS check inclusive of both the Adults and Children’s barred list.
- Able to work on a shift basis including weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins.
- Motivation to work on own initiative.
- Able to work effectively and contribute as part of the team.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal, professional development.
- Positive and creative disposition
- Understands the importance of maintaining professional boundaries.

- Work in residential settings.
