Graduate Scheme Counsellor Posts

We frequently see excellent counsellors with great potential graduate from their Level 4, or higher course with enthusiasm and an eagerness to step on to their counselling career ladder, only to find that opportunities are scarce. Most employers are looking for 450+ hours experience, and certainly in the NHS counselling services require accreditation and a NICE approved qualification.

At 1point, we are committed to offer career enhancing opportunities for counsellors working and/or studying in Greater Manchester. We introduced our Graduate Scheme which started in July 2023 which has continued to grow.

There will be opportunities to work with us for 6 hours per week, paid at current the real Living Wage rate of £12.60 per hour. Counsellors will have qualified from 2025 to be eligible for the scheme and may stay with the project up to a maximum of 18 months or until they have gained 450 supervised hours. In addition, they will be offered 1.5 hours paid individual and/or group supervision per month, free or reduced rate access to CPD courses, and paid BACP membership (post probation and whilst in post).

Responsible to our Graduate Co-ordinator, the posts will be based at Silverwell House in Bolton. Both evening and Saturday work will be available, and counselling will be delivered face to face.

**YOU WILL**:

- Hold a recognised professional level qualification (Level 4 standard or above) in therapeutic counselling obtained in 2025.
- Have at least 1 year's’ experience and a minimum of 100 supervised clinical hours working as a trainee counsellor with clients who experience a range of common mental health problems.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
