Post Designation : Care Assistant / Bank Assistant / Night Responsible to : Manager Division : Care Location : Clann House **Major Purpose of job holder** - To promote and provide Quality care for all residents regardless of Religion, Colour, Creed and without discrimination - To follow and uphold all policies and procedure set out by Clann House - To act in a professional manner whilst on shift, following the personal conduct guidelines set out by The Company and to be aware and follow the strict guidelines on confidentiality both on and off the premises. To safeguard our residents from abuse: -"Abuse is a violation of an individual's human and civil rights by any other person or persons". Training is mandatory in this area to help understand the zero tolerance at Clann House. **Principal Duties and Responsibilities** - To work effectively within the home care team - To ensure that induction programs are completed within specified timescales - Assist residents who need help with all aspects of personal care in line with their plan of care - To be aware of infection control issues and work within current guidelines at all times, for example, using personal protective equipment and hand washing - Support residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities; in the care and use of aids and personal equipment, liaising with Physio aid for guidance - Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity through talking and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations, liaising with the activities coordinator for guidance - Make and change beds; tidy rooms and do light cleaning - Take care of linen and residents clothing - Serve meals and assist residents at meal times as required ensuring client receive a balanced and nutritious diet, liaising with Chef as required - Answer bells promptly, answer the doorbell, telephone and greet visitors - Respect all confidential matters pertaining to the residents, the staff and the home - Read and write in Care plans and daily evaluation, and report to senior staff any changes in residents condition. - To receive training for the administering of medication to the residents. - Ensure all forms, i.e. turn charts and fluid charts are completed accurately, legibly and promptly - To deal sensitively with the emotional needs of distressed clients and refer to senior staff - Assist senior staff as required - To participate in staff training and attend staff meetings - To take an active role in the admission of new residents, key working and to contribute to the improvement of all residents quality of life - To demonstrate awareness and understanding of all details in the Company Handbook, contract of employment and Health and Safety regulations, ensuring all updated policies are read in a timely manner - To carry out any additional duties requested by the Senior worker or Manager - To attend selected training and become medication trained if deemed necessary. THERE MAY BE OTHER DUTIES, WHICH FROM TIME TO TIME THE CARE ASSISTANT MAY BE ASKED TO UNDERTAKE IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MANAGEMENT OF CLANN HOUSE.
