**Personal Assistant required for Special Needs young gentleman.**

Would you like to be part of a fun team striving to build on emerging independence skills to a young man with profound learning difficulties who in spite of many challenges keeps acquiring new skills? Would you like to help him attend fun activities that engage and promote his self confidence out and about.

We are a family currently working on daily living skills for our son with a team of trained Personal assistant. Over the years we have trained everyone who has come to work with us in all the skills needed for our son's home education program. He has worked very hard and now he is out of education we can spend time doing fun activities to keep our son active and engaged, boosting his health, confidence, independence and social skills.

Our son has overcome many obstacles and we are very proud of the young man he has become however we have not done this alone. We have been supported by an amazing Behavioural Consultant and a highly dedicated team who work with our son daily.

He has mínimal challenging behaviours which has been down to having such a great team working with us since he was only 3 years old. He is walking but is still wobbly at times as his core stability is poor due to low muscle tone and a fast growth spurt. Physiotherapy and occupational therapy are incorporated on a daily basis and the improvements are slow but sure but sometimes he needs use of a wheelchair which you will be required to push. He is really cheeky and will try to feign sleepiness and be a couch potato so you need to be someone who thinks it is cute/clever but doesn't fall for it Life is out there and we want our son to have as much fun as possible.

He can be full of mischief and fun when you have found the key to what motivates him to engage, however this can change weekly so you need to be constantly thinking on your feet. He makes everybody around him smile, has a lovely, sweet personality and deserves the best life, full of fun experiences.

He is non verbal and is being taught to use special communication devices to request his wants and needs but he is very expressive and will let you know what he is wanting, you just have to read his cues. Through lots of positive reward we see his confidence soar which is proof that having a fun and lively team motivating him is instrumental to his success.

We currently have a team of 3 personal assistants. We have sessions with BCBA Risca Solomon of Skybound Autism Therapies throughout the year and full training will be given in house and on any courses that are in relation to our sons level of requirement at that time. We are keen to find someone as soon as possible so we can increase our team from 3 to 4.

You may be required to work an extra day when we have a training day with all the team tutors and our behavioural consultant. These are normally every 2 months and are pre-arranged well in advance although every effort is made to select a day when all the team are normally at work.

We stress that applicants must hold a full driving licence and have use of a reliable car as we are a little way from the bus route. Ability to drive an automatic car would be an advantage but training can be given in order to drive our son's mobility vehicle for daily trips out and about.

Salary is paid 4 weekly and is increased annually in relation to similar positions in the area, progression, ability and commitment.
