A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on advancing research in customer analytics.

The role holder will work with the Cambridge Service Alliance (CSA). The CSA is a research centre within the Institute for Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge.

Operating at the intersection of AI and business, they will contribute to the development of next-generation methodologies and theories for customer experience management. Collaborating with CSA industrial partners and interdisciplinary teams, they will lead the design and execution of AI projects centred on customer-centric strategies.

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties include:

- Conduct advanced research in NLP, LLM, and AI-driven customer analytics to address business challenges in customer experience.
- Design and implement scalable AI models for personalized customer interactions and predictive analytics.
- Publish research findings in conferences, journals and practitioner outlets.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including business leaders and technical staff, to align AI solutions with organisational goals.
- Stay at the forefront of AI advancements, translating breakthroughs into actionable solutions.
- Develop robust algorithms and tools to analyse structured and unstructured data and improve decision-making processes.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
