As a Senior or Principlal Hydrogeologist at Severn Trent, you’ll sit within the Sustainable Abstraction Team and work as part of a team of multidisciplinary technical experts who provide specialist advice to the business and stakeholders. During AMP7 and beyond we will be undertaking a complex environmental programme, Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP) which encompasses several workstreams, this is where you come into it.

A key element of this role is about getting stuck into the technical challenges we face around managing our groundwater sources sustainably for years to come. This role will involve working with our strategy team, operations and technical consultants, particularly in relation to the investigation, development, and remediation of water supplies, from initial feasibility studies through to groundwater source investigation and development. A key part of this role will be working with the business to address and propose new solutions for how we can manage our groundwater sources to ensure both security of supply and protection of the environment.

Within the role you’ll get the chance to work with a range of stakeholders. You will need to be great at building relationships with internal and external parties, such as regulators for example. There is also an ask for you to be experienced in managing consultants to ensure they deliver the right work and on time and should be experienced in programme and project management. You will coach and mentor junior team members and be an active member of industry technical / scientific bodies and lead on policy development.

Examples of areas of work relating to groundwater and hydrogeology include:

- No deterioration groundwater source investigations and options appraisals
- Development of strategies to inform the Water Resources Management Plan and Business Plan submissions
- Water Supply System strategy development through collaboration with our Hydrogeology, Infrastructure/Network and Operational teams
- Developing borehole and groundwater source modelling and monitoring

Using this experience, plus your strong water resources expertise you’ll be able to successfully lead, support and influence our future water resources management plans.
