Our Learning Support Unit is a quiet place but can be very busy at times. It is a place where students come for a time of reflection if things have gone wrong in mainstream school and we help them to make better informed choices. The LSU is also a placeof nurture, at times things may get too much, students may have suffered a bereavement or be generally struggling at times, or they may need some time out or a quiet space.
We also have students that are new to the country and English may not be their first language, so part of our role is to help with a smooth transition and to help them settle into our school community.
We are now looking for a suitably experienced and supportive person to assist our Learning Support Unit Manager in the day to day running of the LSU and assume responsibility in her absence.
**WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU in this Deputy Learning Support Unit Manager role**:
- The opportunity to join our Outstanding school of 1500 students aged 11-18, supported by a hugely talented, hard-working staff team;
- Excellent facilities in new and refurbished buildings;

- Access to Health Assured's 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme;
- Staff Wellbeing Fund for initiatives, activities and social events that support staff mental and physical health;
- Cycle to Work Scheme in operation;
- We are a socially inclusive and equal opportunities school and committed to and actively promote equal opportunities for all our students and staff.
**WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU in this Deputy Learning Support Unit Manager**:
- Experience and an understanding of safeguarding and child protection issues, or be willing to undertake training in these areas;
- Numeracy and literacy skills at least equivalent to RQF Level 2; good ICT skills are also desirable;

- Ability to remain calm and helpful under pressure, take responsibility, dealing skillfully with unanticipated situations and ensuring a professional response at all times;
- Good communication skills with the ability to work well within a team, yet able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised utilising their own initiative;
- Well organised with an adaptable and positive approach to all aspects of the workload;
