Senior Commodity Strategist

**Description of Business Line**

We benefit from a global coverage thanks to Societe Generale local networks in Eastern Europe (Moscow, Bucarest, Warsaw and Prague), the strengthening of our presence in the US, and in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo), together with our establishedUK and Western European base.

This provides us with more than 200 analysts, strategists and economists combining their expertise into a cross-asset approach: analysis of the impact of major events on different asset classes, assessment of the links between asset classes, and strategicsynthesis of this key information to provide an integrated view.

**Key Responsibilities**
- As a Senior Cross Commodity Strategist working within Global Research and Strategy (GRS), you will work with all team members adding value to the existing research we provide, helping to generate and publish fundamental insights but also lead the quantitativeanalysis of commodity markets using (mainly) Python. Importantly, you must have a macro/fundamental view of commodity markets and be able to explain complicated issues in a very coherent fashion.
- Collaborate with non-commodity GRS strategists (credit, equity, FX etc) / economists / quants/ to help write cross asset publications.
- Promote commodity research, sharing the team's views to both internal and external clients. This will involve meeting clients face to face as well as conference calls. Working closely with sales teams on pitches with a particular focus on quantitative andalso fundamental approaches to commodities markets.
- Managerial responsibilities for juniors / graduate / interns and to partner with senior members of the commodities team.
- Assist in developing commodity strategies / signals within the research team for our client base. Work closely with the systematic/quantitative investment strategy (QIS) group in helping to market quantitative commodity strategies, recommend suitable strategiesfor different market conditions and client needs and help generate potential index products based on research conducted within GRS. When necessary, collaborate with the QIS structurers/engineers.
- Meet clients (hedge funds, asset managers, pension funds, etc.) to explain our commodities views. Our client base is international (some international travel will be involved) and you will meet with key commodity clients globally.
- Promote commodity research, sharing the team's views to both internal and external clients. This will involve meeting clients face to face as well as conference calls. Working closely with sales teams on pitches with a particular focus on quantitative approachesto commodities markets.
- Managerial responsibilities for juniors / graduate / interns and to partner with senior members of the commodities team.
- Support monthly production of Commodity Compass publication exploring novel ways of looking at commodities. This publication aims to intertwine quantitative models with fundamentals, in order to unravel new creative strategies and areas of research.
- Participate in the writing/ production of the flagship Quarterly Commodity Outlook publication - this is the fundamental outlook (forecasts).
- Internal meetings with bankers/risk etc on recent commodity developments.
- Potentially adapt publication types to enrich the content delivered to clients. New publication should be as much automated as possible.
- Create and develop further visual representations of complex ideas or dataset. To have an impact, our research need to be rich but also quickly and easily digestible for clients.

**Competencies**
- Strong quant background.
- Knowledge of commodity markets and pricing models and back-testing trade ideas
