This role is for a full time, permanent, Band 8a Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner - MSK pathway encompassing Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment & Treatment Service (CMATS), Core Physiotherapy Services and Primary care FCP.
We have an exciting opportunity in Hywel Dda University Health Board for an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner within the County of Pembrokeshire. This post will support the development of the MSK pathway by working within the Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment & Treatment service (CMATS). It will support the CMATS, Musculoskeletal Core Physiotherapy and Primary Care FCP service in Pembrokeshire.
The University Health Board is working towards developing a fully integrated pathway and as part of this vision, the post holder will be required to work closely with the existing primary care MSK team, core MSK physiotherapy and Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment Services (CMATS). It will provide an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of physiotherapy practice, to develop strong clinical networks and to streamline pathways of care for our patients.
The post holder is identified as a clinical expert and is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care. At this level the post holder is expected to work as a highly skilled senior practitioner and to have expert knowledge.
The primary focus of the role is to work as an advanced, autonomous practitioner providing patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of musculoskeletal assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment of patients. The post is intended to provide improved outcomes for patients by improving timeliness and consistency of care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
**Four main hospitals**: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
**Seven community hospitals**: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
MSc relevant to the role
Qualification in Musculoskeletal injection therapy
IRMER training (previous relevant requesting rights)
Experience of requesting and interpreting relevant blood tests
This means they will be supported by a development plan. (During the first year payment will be 65% of the top rate of band 8a pay, and the second year 70%, third year 75%). Following successful completion of the above listed qualifications and completion of the service capabilities framework, the post holder will then be paid at Band 8a (minimum point on the scale). Support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the successful applicant to the Band 8a role. Failure to achieve the qualification in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
