The force is presently experiencing high levels of demand within Safeguarding. In order to assist with this demand we are looking for an individual with experience as an investigator with excellent communication skills to support the Safeguarding team in the MASH Department as a Safeguarding Investigative Officer. Applicants must have recent experience of mutli agency working.
The successful applicant will act as CRU Decision Maker and Gatekeeper, risk assessing and signposting Durham Constabulary safeguarding referrals, including liaising with partner agencies to reduce the risk in relation to domestic abuse, child protection and the protection of vulnerable adults. The successful applicant will also be expected to be a point of contact for advice and information internally and externally and foster good relations with departments within own force, providing an essential link between uniform response, neighbourhood policing and outside agencies to ensure that a high quality of service is provided to all victims of child, domestic and adult abuse.

The successful applicant will also act as decision maker in the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub which is made up of a range of professionals from different agencies. This will involve improving the quality of information sharing between agencies to quickly identify risk and vulnerability, ensure consistency of response and ensure families receive early help to prevent issues from escalating.

Applicants should be emotionally resilient and have at least 2 years professional experience, together with 2 years customer service experience. You should have enhanced literacy skills, e.g. composing either original letters or reports on a regular basis or statement writing.

**Job Requirements**

4 G.C.S.E. levels (Grade A to C) including English Language or Literature and Maths or an approved equivalent. An individual who possesses an equivalent e.g. NVQ must provide evidence of English and Maths.
