AWE is looking for a Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Skills Academy Team Leader role to join a team responsible for inspiring and leading our apprentices to a successful C&I career.

C&I is an enduring and key role required by the business to provide maintenance, installation and design of C&I systems to allow the programme to be successfully deployed. This group of engineers is of particular importance to the modern facilities in constructionat AWE and their requirement for PLC and sensor control; C&I is amongst the UK scarce resource. The academy is the key provider of the competent workforce into the business

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Within this role you will:

- Design, deliver and evaluate training in practical skills, knowledge and behaviours for control and instrumentation apprentices
- Optimise, organise, develop and deliver skills and underpinning knowledge training for allocated apprentices including the review and maintenance of course files, syllabi and schemes of work
- Have or be willing to obtain teacher and assessor status and maintain it via continued professional development activity
- Work as part of the Skills Academy team to ensure that defined company and national contracted requirements for development are met
- Assure, assess and / or instruct apprentices skills, knowledge and behaviours, including during work-based learning
- Line manage apprentices including company performance management process and identify and address development needs and assessment using recognised company and academy processes
- Lead a team of approx. 12 direct reports
- Proven presentation skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal to be understood by a range of audiences, from new apprentices to senior management within AWE
- Good influencing skills to ensure the appropriate learning opportunities and development of individuals
- Extensive experience in an engineering environment (engineers only)

As part of this role you must:

- Undertake and pass a CRB check
- Have the ability and affinity for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business particularly young people
- Have the ability to attend off-site events (e.g. meetings, conferences, residential courses, etc.) which may include short periods away from home including overnight stays
