The Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) is a high profile and fast-moving policy area that remains at the forefront of ministers’ and stakeholders’ attention and is at the heart of government’s moves to make public sector pensions fair and sustainable. The next few years will involve a number of key changes to the rules governing the TPS and in the scheme design, in what is already a complex and technical area of work.
The team works on a variety of issues with changing priorities. The precise duties can therefore change so the post holder must be flexible.
This particular post is located in the Policy and Projects Unit, where the wider business need is to address the rapidly-increasing workload on projects such as Transitional Protection equalisation, Guaranteed Minimum Pension equalisation, pensions dashboard and independent schools phased withdrawal - as well as current legal challenges and equalities analysis/reporting.
There will also be opportunities for the post holder to engage across the spectrum of TPS activity, from correspondence & grievances to contract management & commercials.
**Job description**:
**The role of the EO post is to**:
- Provide direct support to the Head of Unit.
- Deliver a secretariat function to the Teachers’ Pensions Policy Projects Teams as required.
- Maintain project financial records
- Support with administration of team meetings;
- Ensure papers are received well ahead of meetings and sufficient time is allocated in the Head of Unit’s diary to clear them;
- Liaise with colleagues across the TPS teams that are drafting responses to PQs, FOIs and correspondence;
- Support the business management activities. This could include assisting with the on-boarding of new joiners;
- Ensuring that all meetings are supported with agendas/readouts, arranged correctly and run smoothly;
- Building and sustaining strong relationships with colleagues and senior leaders across TPS and the wider division.
As this role includes completion of the **Business Administration** Apprenticeship **(Level 3)** please check the eligibility requirements below using the apprenticeship standard: Business administrator / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- You must have lived in the UK for 3 years prior to apprenticeship start date and not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
- You must not already have a substantial amount of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You must not have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You already have all the skills and knowledge that is covered in the contents of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have already worked in a similar role, or your previous learning, and/or work experience covers the contents (Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours) of the apprenticeship standard.
- You have a degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration.
- Part of this apprenticeship is to complete a level 2 English and maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and maths at Level 4 (grade C) or equivalent or a higher grade, you will not need to complete the functional skills qualification.
At the enrolment stage, the individual's eligibility will be checked by the training provider.
