I am currently working with an innovative and growing organisation based in Exeter to recruit an Interim Director of Finance. The organisation is going through a period of change and as such, strong financial and operational management will be critical duringthis time. The Interim Director of Finance will play a vital 'hands on' role and be a formal member of the Executive Team, reporting to and working closely with the CEO.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Leading financial strategy and accountable for financial performance. Responsibility for financial policies, procedures, systems, process, budgeting, accounting, payroll, VAT, invoicing, cashflow and supplier contracting
- Responsible for developing and providing high quality corporate plans and management information, including financial performance, business planning and corporate KPI reporting
- Responsible for corporate risk management, including leadership of corporate risk register; supporting and liaising with external auditors and; ensuring compliance with GDPR, data protection and information management requirements
- Supporting the Board to discharge their corporate governance responsibilities and ensuring the organisation has the appropriate corporate policies and procedures in place
- Responsible for corporate IT strategy, policies and improvement plans, including the contract and performance management of outsourced IT services
- Executive responsibility for the finance business function, including line management of the Financial Controller. Establish close and effective working relationships with executive team members and colleagues from across the organisations wider partners
Skills and experience:
- Qualified member of an accountancy body, with substantial post qualification experience
- Leading a finance and corporate operations function ideally in a public sector environment and being accountable for financial performance at Board and executive level
- Ability to build trusted relationships with Board and Executive Team members and guide executive and Board decision making
- Proven track record of managing and developing high performing teams
- Experience leading a finance function through a period growth in a complex, innovative and fast moving environment
