CK Group are recruiting for an Analytical Chemist on behalf of a leading CRO at their site in Reading on a permanent basis.
**About the client**:
Our client is a cutting-edge Contract Research Organisation (CRO), providing research, analysis and consultancy to the pharmaceutical, healthcare and food sectors. Their diverse pipeline of projects varies from creating new products, validating medicines andcompleting analytical investigations. The are a global leader in their field, serving clients from across 60 countries.
The Chromatography team is a tight-knit group of experts responsible for employing Liquid Chromatography and Gas Chromatography for pharmaceutical testing, primarily coupled with Mass Spectroscopy.
By utilising LC-MS and GC-MS, they perform routine and investigative analysis of pharmaceutical raw materials, extractables and leechables testing, nitrosamine testing as well as validation, verification and method transfer on behalf of their clients.
**Analytical Chemist Role**:
The main purpose of this position is to to undertake a practical role in carrying out routine and investigative analyses of products and method development and validations using chromatography (e.g. GC, GCMS and LCMS).
You will have the opportunity to support with training and supervision of junior members of the team as required.
**Your main duties will be to**:

- Perform a range of routine and investigative analysis using chromatography (e.g. GC, GCMS and LCMS) independently and provide interpretation of results generated by chromatography (e.g. GC, GCMS and LCMS) as required.
- Perform method development, transfers and design validation protocols with support.
- Carry out maintenance of the chromatography (e.g. GC, GCMS and LCMS) systems including checking and approving supplier’s reports (qualifications, repairs and preventative reports).
- Perform transcription checking for factual data (e.g. reagents) and data checking of laboratory notebook data for routine analyses.
- Assist with technical aspects for client proposals for method development, transfers and validation protocols.
- Provide training and supervision to junior staff in routine activities and methods.
- Manage small projects or defined areas of larger projects

**Your Background**:

- Educated to a minimum of degree level (or possess equivalent experience) in Chemistry or a related field
- Experience in use of techniques including GC, GCMS and LCMS
- Experience in method development or method validation would be highly beneficial for this position
- Experience with GMP and experience working in a CRO are advantageous but not required.
