School Minibus Driver

**Job overview**:
Terrington Hall School is looking to employ 2 new bus drivers to transport students between home and school.

There are 2 available positions, both appointed persons will be expected to work on a part time, term time only basis.

One position requires 10 journeys per week between Monday and Friday, 6.30am to 8.30am and 5.30pm-7.30pm. Also, 2 out of 3 Saturday mornings 6.30am to 8.30am during term time. In addition to time spent on vehicle management. To start 22nd April 2025.

The second position requires 3 journeys per week between Monday and Wednesday, 6.30am to 8.30am, with relief driving at other times when required and where possible. In addition to time spent on vehicle management. To start as soon as possible.

Both are zero hours contract, inclusive of holiday pay.

Rate per hour £13.98

**Key Responsibility /Accountability**
- Driving school vehicle
- Responsible for the safety, comfort and welfare of the children
- Carry out driver’s vehicle checks
- Report any vehicle defects, faults, incidents and accidents
- Be responsible for the cleanliness of vehicles, inside and out and ensuring the vehicle is in a clean and roadworthy condition before and after use
- Clean the buses on the outside once a week
- Refuel vehicles as required
- AdBlue to vehicles as required
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage by completing the log sheets and maintain the supply of sheets
- Maintain accurate records of the children using the service each day
- Ensure all documentation is in the vehicle, including the minibus policy
- Maintain and help to promote a good school image, working attire should be always worn and kept in a clean and tidy condition
- Work within health and safety guidelines and other guidelines that may be issued from time-to-time
- Liaise with parents regarding routes, timings, arrangements etc.
- Plan alternative road routes to and from school when necessary and keeping parents informed of any changes
- Undertake any other work as reasonably requested by the Bursar or Headmaster

Ensure the following statutory items of equipment are carried on board the Minibus. If items are used during a journey, please inform the School Office who will replenish supplies:

- appropriately equipped First Aid Box
- fire extinguisher - which contains foam
- warning triangle - this should be used in the event of breakdown and carefully positioned 50m behind the vehicle to warn other road users of the broken-down vehicle
- hi-visibility vest
- dustpan and brush
- bucket/plastic box
- bin bags
- sick bags

**Training**
- Attend and complete relevant training courses as identified and agreed
- First Aid
- Other (compliance) training as required

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. To fulfil this responsibility effectively, all practitioners should make sure their approach is child related. This means that they should consider, always, what is in the best interests of the child.

You must comply with Terrington Hall School’s Protection and Safeguarding Policy and Procedures and the requirement to report any concerns relating to the safety or welfare of children.

A safeguarding induction and ongoing safeguarding training will be provided.

- Hold a current, clean and valid driving licence
- Capability to maintain accurate vehicle and user records
- Competent to undertake daily and weekly vehicle checks

**Safeguarding and welfare of children**

The job holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact with, will be to adhere to and always ensure compliance with the Schools’ Child Protection Policy Statement. If while carrying out the duties of the post the role holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report any concerns to the School’s DSL or the Headteacher.
