Cranleigh, United Kingdom Cranleigh Scientific Full time

A globally recognised clean energy provider based just outside of Guildford, Surrey is looking to appoint an Engineer into its world-class electrochemical testing and diagnostics team. You will play a pivotal role within this department, responsible forthe development of electrochemical diagnostic protocols of alkaline and anion exchange membrane (AEM) fuel cells.

You will lead the development of electrochemical diagnostic techniques and their implementation from small-scale half-cell to full-scale full-stack fuel cells. These advanced and accelerated testing techniques will facilitate the deconvolution of voltagelosses to provide voltage loss breakdowns which attribute losses to the various components and associated mechanisms within the fuel cell and fuel cell stack.

As a minimum requirement you should hold a master's degree and ideally possess 3+ years of relevant experience or hold a PhD with a focus on electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices, chemical engineering or materials engineering.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Development and implementation of diagnostics techniques for the characterisation of alkaline fuel cell and anion-exchange membrane fuel cells at the at the half-cell, single-cell, multi-cell, short-stack, full-stack, and product scales.
- Reporting, analysis, and interpretation of test results, and their dissemination and discussion with relevant parties in the organisation.
- Assisting with the assembly and testing of fuel cell balance of plant systems and components.
- Application, development, and implementation of testing procedures with a focus on quality, reproducibility, and repeatability.
- Manage workload for delivery to various teams in the Fuel Cells, Electrolyser, and Polymer's business unit, and wider in the organisation.
- Technical report writing and presentation
- Continuous professional development.

**Skills & Requirements**:

- An understanding of the importance of proper and thorough documentation of experiments and results.
- PhD level qualification, or MSc degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, with a focus on electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices such as fuel cells, electrolysers, batteries, supercapacitors, or similar.
- Practical experience with and strong understanding of electrochemical testing and diagnostic techniques such as: cyclic voltammetry; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; and polarisation techniques.
