The Department offers BSc and MMath courses in Mathematics (also with minors), a Foundation Year, and several MSc courses, covering mathematics, finance and data science.

In the 2021 research excellence framework (REF), 98% per cent of our research outputs were classified as world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).

Current research in mathematics at Sussex is grouped into Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, Geometry and Topology, Mathematics Applied to Biology, Mathematical Physics, Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing and Probability and Statistics.
