**Position**: School Counsellor
**Location**: Newcastle, UK
**Start Date**: Immediate
**Working Hours**: Full-time, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
**Duration**: Until Christmas, with the possibility of extension
**Hourly Rate**: £14.00 - £16.50 per hour (depending on experience)

**Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide individual counselling sessions to students, helping them navigate personal, emotional, and psychological challenges.
- Work closely with students to develop coping strategies and resilience.
- Identify and assess students in need of additional support and make appropriate referrals to external agencies when necessary.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support students’ overall well-being.
- Develop and deliver workshops or group sessions on relevant mental health topics.
- Maintain confidential and accurate records of counselling sessions and interventions.
- Contribute to the development of the school’s mental health policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and child protection policies.

**Requirements**:

- A recognized qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (e.g., BACP, UKCP accredited).
- Experience working with adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
- A deep understanding of adolescent mental health issues and the ability to manage sensitive situations with care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to promoting a positive mental health environment within the school.
