**The Role**
Our client is looking for a full time Senior or Principal consultant to join their Networks and Innovation team. This team works with network companies, governments and regulators with specialist studies, data analysis, and the evolution of innovative systems.
The Networks and Innovation team has a strong existing workload with an excellent client base, and they have plans to grow the team. This role is suited to a skilled engineer that is eager to work in a consultancy providing technical services to DistributionNetwork Operator (DNO) clients.
Duties and responsibilities include;
- Design High Voltage/Extra High Voltage (HV/EHV) grid connections, and ad-hoc support of Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure the design standards as set out in DNO design policies are met.
- Produce specifications for non-contestable design elements for grid connections. Travel to GSPs to assess the site and identify equipment requirements.
- Ordering of specified equipment and co-ordination of subcontractors to achieve the connection timeline.
- Build, co-ordinate and train a small team of Graduate and Technical consultants to aid in the service delivery to the clients.
- Act as Project Manager for projects undertaken by the team you will be working with.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and other legislative and company requirements.
- Work with all consultants in the team to ensure that lessons learnt are communicated and team skills are developed.
Essential requirements;
- A degree/MEng in Electrical Engineering
- Awareness of the technical requirements in the design, specifications of HV equipment to allow for the engineering and procurement of new substations.
- Familiarity with relevant BS and IEC standards relating to HV substation design.
- Project management or project engineering experience.
- Well-informed ability to deliver work individually, or as part of a team.
- Ability to engage with Clients, forming rapports and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable requirements;
- Post-graduate degree in Power Systems or relevant Power System analysis industry experience.
- Awareness and energetic in seeking out new business opportunities.
- HV Cable sizing/routing experience.
- Chartership or working towards Chartership with the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology).
- Full UK Driving licence
