**About this job**:

- The London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is looking to recruit an experienced and innovative Waste and Recycling Officer to support and assist with the delivery of the council's waste and recycling targets. Some of the key responsibilities will include;- To coordinate and enhance waste minimisation, recycling and other waste management initiatives designed to enable the Authority to meet statutory performance targets.
- To provide advice to members of the public, Council departments and outside businesses on waste disposal and recycling.
- To run a series of community engagement roadshows, giving talks and workshops at schools, and community groups.
- To develop, co-ordinate and deliver promotional and educational activities including waste minimisation, reuse, recycling, litter, and other street scene matters to promote and support waste services.
- Liaise with the enforcement, housing, and other line departments where necessary to take appropriate enforcement action to ensure the services provided are used appropriately.

**About you**:
You will have considerable experience and background in behavioural change campaigns and community engagement, and have sound knowledge of environmental issues, legislation and practical experience of waste and recycling operations. You will have the ability to work either independently or as part of a team and must be able to commute to various locations in the Borough to engage with residents and monitor waste and recycling assets. You are required to have a full and clean UK driver's licence.
