**Purpose of this role**:
- Supporting individual pupils/groups of pupils with communication and language difficulties
- Running interventions as appropriate to meet the needs of the school
- Supporting work in class, as directed
- Supporting the work of the Assistant Principal for inclusion in raising standards for pupils with communication and language difficulties
**Key **responsibilities**
- To work alongside the Inclusion Leader to implement strategies within the classroom to develop communication and language
- To support class teachers within their classroom environments
- To develop knowledge and skills regarding speech and language development in children whilst working with multi agency services to raise standards of speech and language in children throughout the school.
**Main duties**:
- To work in partnership with Speech and Language Therapy services to meet the needs of individual students.
- To carry out treatment programmes designed for specific children by SALTs.
- To assess identified children in terms of their Speech and Language needs.
- To run speech and language groups which support individual children’s care plans.
- To participate in the training of school staff around speech and language development.
- To liaise with other professionals as well as voluntary groups and to participate in the multidisciplinary team.
- To design and make equipment for groups and individual children to support learning and development
- To undertake lunchtime duties on a contracted regular basis.
