Senior Finance Officer

**Job Purpose**
Being dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic and acting as a true business partner, you will provide accounting support to the business through building relationships and enhanced reporting to enable greater synergy between finance and non-finance teams leading to better outcomes for all.
**Business Partnering**
- To proactively support budget holders to manage their budgets effectively. Providing professional advice, guidance and training as appropriate. Highlighting key issues and proposing solutions expediently to the Director of Finance.
- To work closely with the Management Accountant and Finance Manager to ensure that monthly and year-end accounts are produced accurately and timely.
- To provide effective budget housekeeping in line with Financial Regulations and agreed timescales in order to assist with timely and accurate management accounts.
- Processing of journals and virements to ensure all accounts are accurate and up to date.
- Assist with month-end tasks, preparing accruals and prepayments and reconciling accounts.
- Build and establish strong, credible relationships with business stakeholders and work with relevant stakeholders to develop their understanding of the financial results and impact of their decisions.
- Financial management of the College’s student support funds in line with external guidance and internal policies.
- Working closely with budget holders and the senior finance team to play a significant role in the creation of annual budgets and in-year forecasts.
- To have a wider appreciation of the context of the business including an understanding of funding rules, internal Funding and Compliance information and College policies.
**Systems**
- To take an active interest in using college systems, particularly the finance system, to provide timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
- Creation of ah-hoc reports to aid information and decision-making.
- Strong Excel skills and a working knowledge of PowerBI would be a big advantage.
- To assist in driving business improvement across the College to improve systems and processes, ensuring that efficient and effective operations are integrated across the college.
**Other**
- Contribute to quality and innovation activity including the College Step Change initiative and the College purpose of ‘Defining Futures’.
- To ensure that you proactively manage your individual CPD and that all College CPD is carried out to a good standard.
- To carry out all duties in accordance with the College’s Health and Safety, Safeguarding & Equality & Diversity policies and procedures, practices and procedures.
- To carry out any other duties as directed by your Line Manager.

**Salary**: £27,693.00-£30,270.00 per year
