Non-ferrous Yard Operative

**Job Summary**

**Duties**
- Sorting and processing non-ferrous metals (e.g. copper, aluminium, brass)
- Identifying different grades of non-ferrous material
- Operate forklifts (if licensed) and other machinery safely to load and unload materials.
- Manage the warehouse management system to track inventory levels and locations.
- Assist in shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation of all incoming and outgoing goods.
- Perform regular inspections of yard equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
- Build and organise storage areas for efficient materials handling.
- Conduct heavy lifting tasks as necessary, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including the disposal of waste materials.
- Collaborate with team members to optimise workflow and improve operational efficiency.
- Follow company procedures and health & safety regulations.

**Qualifications**
- Previous experience in a warehouse or yard environment is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts; certification is an advantage but not essential as training can be provided.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks (up to 25 kg) consistently throughout the shift.
- Familiarity with shipping and receiving procedures is beneficial.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for effective materials handling.
- A proactive attitude towards safety practices within the workplace.
- Previous experience working with non-ferrous metals (preferred but not essential)
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Punctual, reliable, and safety-conscious

Pay: £12.21-£15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 55 per week
