**The role**

As a Stores Operative, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for looking after our facilities, building fabric, and associated maintenance, contributing to the smooth running of the stores functions. You will provide logistic and storage solutions for Babcock and its customers, ensuring accurate records and assisting with the disposal or transfer of assets/spares. Additionally, you'll assist the Site Manager with financial management, control site budget database, and support maintenance and fault repair tasks.

Day to day, you'll:

- Interface with customers, suppliers, and colleagues to contribute to the smooth running of the stores functions.
- Update the Asset Manager with accurate information provided by both Babcock and Customer Staff to maintain accuracy after or during audits.
- Ensure the smooth transfer of goods, including issuing, receipt, and returns, by interacting with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Manage COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) across the site, ensuring proper measures are in place for the correct and safe use of COSHH items.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the stores to minimize risks.
- Ensure individual and peer safety, advising the Customer of potential risks and mitigation when necessary.
- Support the Disposals Service by dismantling IT equipment, completing associated paperwork, and assisting with disposal recommendations.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Site Manager.
- Engage with the customer to identify assets/spares with no transitional evidence to recommend disposal or transfer.
- Assist with financial management and control, monitor site budget database.
- Process financial transactions for site administered spends, including cash handling.
- Provide support to maintenance activity and fault repair tasks, ensuring completion.
- Review, create, and update company process and procedure manuals.
- Coordinate and produce purchase requisitions, liaising with purchasing department, couriers, and internal stores department.
- Process travel, accommodation, and security arrangements as required.
- Perform general administrative duties.

**Essential experience of the Stores Operative**:

- Previous experience within a stores environment.
- Administrative support for a small engineering team.

Qualifications for the Stores Operative:

- GCSE Maths & English.
- Health & Safety qualification IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
- UK Driving license.
- Attaining and retaining DV Clearance is essential.

This is a full-time, permanent role based at our North Yorkshire site
