**Role: Metal Buyer**

**Location: Burnley**

**Salary: Up to £40,000**

We are looking for a Metal Buyer to join an international well-established manufacturing company in the Burnley area. This is an exciting opportunity joining the purchasing department to ensure continuity of supply through the timely sourcing of metals (& materials and services) from the supply chain.

**The Role**:
s Develop and report on an appropriate set of KPIs for all aspects of Inventory Management of purchased metals (& materials and services)

s Metals (& materials and services) can be sourced as single purchases or complex contractual schedules

s Develop and implement a series of discrete purchasing strategies that have a clear and timely set of deliverables primarily for the metal category categories as assigned by the Purchasing Manager

s Identify and source new suppliers and vendors

s Manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity, and reliability

s Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors

s Establish and update an approved vendor/supplier database

s Develop, negotiate, and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements

s Evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.

s Monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements

s Measure and manage the vendor and supplier cost, quality, and delivery performance

s Oversee supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations

s Troubleshoot cost, quality, and delivery concerns

s Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery, and supply

s Work with relevant departments to manage inventory requirements

s Facilitate timely placement of purchase orders

s Review purchase orders for proper authorization and compliance with organizational policy and procedures

s Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts

s Monitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectives

s Generate purchase orders from MRP requisitions

s Responsible for the identification and cost-effective disposal of obsolete and slow-moving inventory

s Investigate and root cause “as appropriate” any stock outs within your product portfolio

s Effectively manage any rejected parts liaising with respective departments and Suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of replacements is achieved and that all associated costs are recovered

s Effective expediting against a daily shortage report; reschedule reports and overdue order reports involving frequent / daily contact with a wide range of suppliers

s Escalate any supply problems within the supplier organisation and find a satisfactory resolve

**About you**:
s Minimum five years purchasing experience within the engineering / manufacturing sector, in particular relating to metal buying.

s Understanding of category buying particular within the metal sector

s Understanding of the principals of Purchasing and business processes

s Strong work ethic, with the ability to develop strategies and understand their value

s Attention to detail, data accuracy and good organisation/time management skills

s Hold a skill set particularly encompassing strong negotiation skills, with the ability to perform strategic analysis, while holding a financial acumen

s Be able to develop and lead cross functional teams in a project environment

s A methodical approach to systems and understanding of the importance of standards and established/agreed systems of work

s The ability to develop and “sell” their ideas working as part of and/or managing cross functional teams

s Ability to engage with new systems, particularly the development of ERP within the business

s To have a good understanding of best practice tools and techniques

s The ability to identify changes within legislation and regulations that may impact on the supply chain
