**Main Purpose of the Job**
To manage all aspects of the Dispatch operation to ensure the highest level of safety, service and stock management, whilst carefully managing distribution costs.
**Main Responsibilities**
To manage and control all operations within the dispatch department and to be able to assume full responsibility of the Dispatch department and Cold Store when required.
To be directly accountable for the operatives in the area.
To manage safety, Cleanliness and efficiency within the picking and dispatching operation.
To forge strong relationships with both internal and external contacts, i.e production colleagues, hauliers and customer depots.
**Key activities**:
Day to day personnel management: absence control, disciplinary action, holiday planning, Training.
Control labour to ensure minimum overtime.
Ensure there is adequate transport to cover the delivery of all customer orders with a dispatch plan that is achievable and effective to Deliver on Time.
Ensure maximum utilisation of pallets whilst maintaining integrity of product on its journey.
Organise and motivate subordinates.
Set standards of acceptability and ensure that subordinates consistently achieve them.
**Key Result Areas**:
Achieve 100% service level that is within your control.
Consistently meet Distribution budget and seeks ways of improvements where possible.
Ensure labour targets are in line with budgets and volumes.
Ensure all training across Food safety, Heath and Safety, MHE are embedded and routinely developed within each of the teams.
**Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge/Age**
A sound academic background. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer literacy. Thorough knowledge of the Prism system is required. Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
**Previous Experience (required to perform duties satisfactorily)**
Minimum two years supervisory experience within a fast moving chilled environment. To demonstrate the ability to implement and adhere to procedures. Experience of working to KPI’s.
