**Job title**: Children and Young People Support Worker
**Contract**: 35-hours per week, 52 weeks a year
**Location**: Exeter (and surrounding areas)
**Salary**: £22,750 per annum + overtime
**SWIS are a well-established and expanding company, seeking enthusiastic, skilled and committed Children and Young People Workers to share our values ‘Believe, Achieve Succeed’, ensuring our young people receive outstanding support and intervention.**
**Due to our exciting growth plans, we are conducting a big recruitment drive at present, so we are keen to bring on a number of capable individuals in various locations across the south west.**
We are based in Buckfastleigh and Plymouth, and cover Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. We are looking for additional workers in the Exeter area.
The role is rewarding and varied, delivering bespoke intervention programmes and providing support for 0 - 25-year-olds and their families, some with complex needs.
SWIS operate 365 days a year, so you will need to be flexible, have a UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle with business insurance. (Mileage is paid).
**Ideal Requirements**:
- Experience of working directly with young people and/or families.
- The ability to support challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of statutory regulations, service policies and procedures, government guidance and standards relevant to children, families and social/educational exclusion.
- Experience of providing early intervention and preventative support to education in order to meet measured outcomes and prevent exclusion.
- Substantial experience supporting young people ensuring their social and emotional well-being needs are met.
- Empathy and understanding of the needs relating to children and young people.
- Experience of building strong, effective relationships with children, young people and families in times of challenge and crisis.
- Experience of undertaking direct work with young people and an understanding of the issues related to behaviours, motivation and attitudes of young people.
- Effective strategies to manage challenging, and often unexpected behaviours.
- Knowledge and understanding of the current issues impacting children, young people and families including County Lines, Prevent and CEOP.

- Building strong relationships with people of all ages
- A ‘can do’ attitude
- Willingness to be flexible
- UK driving licence and use of a personal vehicle with business insurance.
- Have the right to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship
You will enjoy using a variety of skills to deliver a combination of enrichment and nurturing activities to promote the well-being of children and young people whilst supporting education, engagement and independence.
